Summary: It presents the report and recommendations of the Conference, which reviewed the issues associated with changing age structure from the point of view of cities and other urban structures, as well as a selection of the discussion papers. The volume also contains the Sendai Declaration of Aging Populations in the Context of Urbanization, which was adopted on 15 September 1988, Japan's Day of Respect for the Elderly, and which reaffirmed that an age integrated society, with true solidarity among the generations, must be an important objective of socio-economic development.
