This study addresses mainly the demographic aspect of population growth and employment in metropolitan areas, the distinction between natural increase and migration is crucial for policy planning because policies aimed at migration require planning instruments that are very different from those required in family planning policies. Knowledge about the relative contribution of two components is therefore essential for the formulation of successful development plans.
