The study shows that on an average a peasant-proprietor's family spends 56 percent of its income on food, 11 percent on clothing and 16 percent on housing. The remaining 17 percent is spent on fuel, lighting, medicine, traveling, education, religion, social function and amusements, etc. The finding of the survey reveals that on an average a peasant-proprietor incurred 49 percent of his total domestic expenditure on the commodities purchased from outside.
