(Professor Ratanlal Brahmachari D.Sc., University of Calcutta), former Professor, Division of Biology, Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta) has researched in various areas of biology ranging from molecular embryology of invertebrates to the feeding habits of mountain gorillas. For more than 50 years, his research focus has been on the pheromones of tigers and congeners. He was enthusiastic about the study of animal behavior long before the research on this field started in this country.  He has also accumulated research experience in the Mediterranean and Andaman Islands).
